Counselling & Psychotherapy

Our psychologists have extensive experience providing confidential counselling and psychotherapy to adults and adolescents, from a variety of backgrounds, helping them overcome common everyday issues to more complex mental health concerns.

Counselling tends to be conducted over a shorter period of time and can help people overcome more common everyday issues, such as stress, relationship difficulties, low self esteem, grief and loss, adjusting to change or coping better with emotions. Whereas, psychotherapy usually takes place over a longer period of time and helps people deal with more complex mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, personality disorders and more entrenched problematic behaviour and emotional difficulties.

Our psychologists take a client centred approach and will work collaboratively with clients tailoring services to individual needs. They will build a confidential, respectful and non-judgemental therapeutic space and relationship where the client can feel safe discussing their thoughts, emotions, behaviours and concerns. Both counselling and psychotherapy involves psychologist drawing upon evidence based practices and treatments to help individuals gain insight, build skills, develop coping strategies and reach their therapeutic goals.

Sessions are usually 50 minutes duration with your psychologist spending an additional 10 minutes to complete your session administration tasks. The frequency of sessions are negotiable but usually begin weekly or fortnightly and then taper off in frequency depending upon the severity of the issue and each clients needs.
